The First College Football Playoffs
This week in College Football, there were quite a few injuries. A lot of the coaches and fans are concerned about the selection of the teams that will compete in the Football Playoffs.
This is the first year that the College Football world has seen playoffs in this form. They will work much like the Final Four playoffs in College Basketball. There is a committee that will help to choose four total teams from the top teams in College Football. There are 12 people on the selection committee and they will be the final word on who will play in the playoffs.
Many are asking if injuries will play a role in this selection. Many colleges’ teams had injuries this past weekend, including Urban Meyer’s Ohio State Buckeyes. They had a great win over Michigan, but had two injured quarterbacks, J.T. Barrett and Braxton Miller. They will have their sophomore quarterback starting this coming weekend in the Big 10 Championship game. Meyer has great hopes for Cardale Jones and hopes that they can still get a win with such a young player starting for them.
Baylor is another team that is hoping the committee will not overlook them because of injuries. They also have a quarterback out with an injury. Bryce Petty left the game this past weekend with a concussion, and hopes are high that he will be able to start this coming weekend.
All of the coaches in College Football have high hopes for their teams this weekend and we can only hope the committee will look beyond any injuries will it comes to team selection for the playoffs.
