Roger Federer Bio

Roger Federer (born 8 August 1981) is a professional Swiss tennis player. Currently, he is ranked as world No.2 by ATP (by the Association of Tennis Professionals). He appeared in 25 singles, Grand Slam finals, (10 in a row) and appeared in 18 finals from the 2005-2010 Wimbledon Championships.

Rodger Federer won 6 ATP World tour finals (playing in final in all 9 tournaments) and has won more prize money than any other player in history. In the 2008 Summer Olympic Games and in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games he won gold medal. His first real success was in 2003 when he won the Grand Slam, in singles, beating Mark Philippoussis in the finals.

In 2013, he had serious back injuries and wasn’t able to play. So his ranking drop to 6th place. This was the first year in which he wasn’t able to reach finally at the beginning of the year. In this year, he had only one title won, at the Gerry Weber Open, defeating Mikhail Youzhny.

In 2014, he defeated Novak Djokovic at the Dubai Tennis Championships and defeated Tomáš Berdych in the finals. At the Indian Wells Masters, he lost against Novak Djokovic. At the Monte-Carlo Masters, Federer beat Novak Djokovic but lost against Stanislas Wawrinka in the final. After those tournaments Federer announced that he will resign as President of the ATP Players Council (he has held that place since 2008).

Federer is listed as number two on the Forbes World's Highest Paid Athletes list. He makes 40 million euros a year as a prize from Nike and Swiss companies (Credit Suisse, Rolex, and Nationale Suisse).
